Dampness in walling has a negative impact on the quality of life and living

For the quality of living there is not much worse than dampness in walling, flaking plaster, salt efflorescence, smells of mould and rot, greying or sodden carpets.

Especially walls of old buildings are often affected by capillary ascending moisture drawn from the ground. Horizontal and vertical barrier layers are missing that would prevent the absorption of moisture into the masonry.

The porous masonry sucks up moisture from the earth. Pressure is developed due to the surface tension of the moisture and the capillaries/pores in the building material, and this transports the moisture upwards. The more delicate the capillary, the more pressure is generated and the higher the water mounts.

MTS removes capillary wall moisture permanently and effectively. Without interference in the building structure and without chemistry.

We offer you a free inspection and a careful examination of the cause of moisture without any commitment on your part.

Additionally the moisture acts as a means of transport for harmful salts in the earth. Besides causing the plaster to flake off and nitrate efflorescence to appear, the basic building structure is also destroyed.

If walls are sealed at their base by vapour proof cladding or paints, moisture continues to rise until equilibrium is reached between evaporation and capillary forces.

Permanent drying of masonry is only possible by elimination of the wall dampness which rises up the capillaries.

Capillary masonry moisture:

  • destroys the basic building structure
  • reduces thermal insulation
  • produces higher energy costs
  • can be harmful to the health
  • recurring renovation costs can arise
